Willa Rose Johnson, near the conclusion of her summer internship, preached a good sermon at Oakhurst Baptist Church, Decatur, Georgia on August 18, 2013. I can’t remember anything she said in the sermon because the opening words of her benediction commanded all of my attention and has not yet let me go. She said, “You were God’s idea. ” Her benediction continued at least a few more sentences, but I can’t remember anything except, “You were God’s idea.”

No one would plan the life I’ve lived. Some days I wonder if I am on course, but Willa’s words delivered assurance that I am doing just fine. After all, I was God’s idea.
